SPY: The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class spotted in Stuttgart
Mercedes-Benz already has an impressive portfolio of offroaders, SUVs and crossovers: the G-, R-, M-, GLK- and GL-Class. In the future, the carmaker will add two new models to the list: the GLC and the MLC. Getting back to present times, after the new M-Class got premiered in mid-summer this year, in 2012 it will be the turn of the second generation GL to impress the audience. As Mercedes-Benz has already commenced the market repositioning of the ML with the discontinuation of the "500" version in Europe, this means the large SUV will take on the challenge of competing with the rivals from Ingolstadt and Munchen. Overall exterior dimensions will likely stay the same, but we expect more room in the cabin, in addition to a more sophisticated and luxurious atmosphere, doubled by the impressive technology lying underneath. The main attractions of the new GL range will certainly be the variants equipped with the economical BlueEFFICIENCY powerplants, but the 435 hp GL 500 and the all new GL 63 AMG supersport SUV are also expected to deliver good sales figures.
